Afterword
At last, it's Volume 9. For those of you who have been following the series from the very beginning, we've now been together for four years. The work that I initially wondered how far I would be able to continue has now become one where I find myself wondering how far it will continue. There are still things I want to do. Kyoya and the others' positions and ways of thinking have also begun to change little by little, but I hope you will continue to watch over where they are headed, just as you have until now. As a little tidbit, the chapter titles in Volume 9 were based on the names of songs associated with Fukuoka, a place I love dearly.
By the time this volume is released, I believe the TV anime will also have begun airing. This, too, has become a long-standing relationship for me, going all the way back to when the project was first conceived. I have been deeply involved in the content, including the series composition and the scripts, so I hope you will all take the opportunity to see how that involvement ultimately took shape as the finished work.
..And with that, I've somehow ended up continuing with rather stiff and formal greetings lately, but given the nature of the main story, it's somehow difficult to fool around too much on these pages. Fortunately or unfortunately, I tend to write this kind of short piece quite easily, so I haven't ended up resorting to the sort of everyday rambling you often saw in light novels back in the day, starting with, “I have nothing to write in the afterword.” Still, I sometimes wonder whether anyone actually enjoys reading such rigid writing. Well, if what you're looking for is a softer and more foolish version of the author, I would be delighted if you came over to the Kio Nachi YouTube channel instead. (A naturally flowing advertisement).
Now for the acknowledgments. Eretto-san, who continues to provide wonderful illustrations that can change freely to match the increasingly serious story, thank you again for this volume. The first impressions I receive are a great source of encouragement. Editor T-san. I apologize for continuing to be such a demanding author even though you have become incredibly busy, but I look forward to working with you again from here on. To the sensei and the editor K-san who have been entertaining us with such passionate manga adaptations, things will be difficult from here on as well, but I sincerely look forward to your continued support. And to all the anime staff, this is a work that is extremely difficult to adapt, so thank you for creating such a passionate anime. I hope we can continue building up the excitement in a good way. And finally, to all the readers who continue to support this “work that takes a lot of power to read,” let me give you a little preview in the style of an old man carrying a tortoise shell on his back: “It'll continue just a little longer”. I don't know exactly how long that “little” will be, but I sincerely hope you will continue to accompany me on this journey.
Until we meet again, please take good care of yourselves.
Kio Nachi
Respectfully
