Novel The Great Wish Volume 4

Chapter 1 - Touching Hearts

Part 5

After a long time, Fateema came to the market without any prior notification.

'I think social parties have got me hooked. I haven't been there in a long time, and I'm getting bored. I can't even go to the library.'

During the Imperial Diet's Meeting, security in the Palace was extremely tight. Access is partially restricted, and non-officials are not allowed to visit the Palace Library.

Iron King is getting married soon. The day after his wedding was the Empire's official banquet of that year. The public's expectations were high as this was the Imperial Family's first wedding in decades, and it was the Red Queen who had prepared the banquet.

As the date of the famous wedding celebration drew nearer, the number of parties thrown by the aristocrats decreased. Any activities that didn't produce a buzz were put on hold until the Imperial banquet was over.

The small gathering did not catch Fateema's eyes. But, as she followed Countess Merge to the larger gathering, her eyes widened.

'Countess Merge said that Palace banquets hosted by the Imperial Family are of a different class.'

When I attended the Year-End Party, my eyes were busy admiring its splendor. Now my eyes have much to see. Immediately after stepping into the Banquet Hall, I reached a point where I roughly understood the Host's feelings. Thus, with confidence, I watched this Imperial Palace Feast with appreciative eyes.

In the middle of a market full of stalls, Fateema met a man who was familiar to her, a tall and well-built man. Her eyes immediately widened. Instantly, she approached the man with quick steps.

"Mr. Loose."

Loose looked at her with understanding eyes.

"I can't believe we met in this place. Nice to see you."

Loose looked at the man beside Fateema silently.

"He is my bodyguard."

Fateema felt uncomfortable with the escort given by Martin. She felt that her every move was being watched and would reach Martin's ears. After telling Martin, 'I'll take care of the bodyguards myself.' I asked Count Merge to help me find a bodyguard.

The bodyguard beside her also bowed with a stiff expression.

"It's been an honor to meet you, Sir Carly."

Fateema looked at him in bewilderment.

"He's not Sir Carly. He's a different person. How rude, apologize quickly."

"Yes? Ah...... I'm sorry."

With a confused expression on his face, the bodyguard apologized. If I didn't know they were twins, then I would do it too because they really look alike.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Loose. In fact, you are an even better warrior than Sir Carly, and I believe that Sir Carly's honor should be yours."

Loose just shrugged his shoulders while crossing his arms. Fateema didn't mind that, Loose was far from polite from the start.

"Mr. Loose, are you in a hurry?"

"Nothing very urgent."

"If you don't mind, could you spare some time? It's been a long time since I left my hometown, so I want to talk about the desert."

"Okay."

Fateema had learned the importance of connections within the Empire's social circle.

Loose is a pearl in mud. He was Marquis Lard's closest aide, and his swordsmanship skills weren't inferior to Sir Carly either. Today there are many people who look up to Sir Carly, and Loose's value will also surely be revealed in time. So, I wanted to strengthen the bond we had made in the desert.

'We should be friends. That way, I can at least ask him to pass on my message to Kuhn.'

Both of them left. Considering Loose, Fateema decided to go to a tavern frequented by commoners. A shop that sells alcohol at night and barley tea during the day.

"Long time no see. How are you?"

"Not bad. Fateema seems fine too. Ah, I can't call you that anymore."

"No. Just call me like before. In the desert, we call everyone by their first names. Imperial custom is polite, but it makes there seem to be some distance between us."

"Then, I'll call you by your first name. I've never been comfortable with being called 'Mr/Miss'."

"Then I'll do it too, Loose. It makes me feel at home, and I love it."

Loose's eyes looked strange as he looked at the smiling Fateema.

'People can change, huh.'

Revan usually describes Loose as 'The man who only has instinct'. It was half accusation, half jealousy.

Usually, Revan would rack his brain trying to read the other person's mind and think about a million different things. However, Loose is very simple. He could tell the good guys and the bad guys with just his instincts.

That's why Loose is never stabbed in the back, even though he has a simple nature. Because he has an instinct to know anyone who approaches him with ulterior motives.

Loose saw Fateema's fake smile. He knew that Fateema approached him in a friendly manner because she liked Kuhn.

But, the Fateema I met in the desert, she was a woman who shone even in the middle of the sandstorm that hit me so I wasn't bothered by her true intentions. That's why at that time, I thought that she was a perfect match for Kuhn.

The Fateema that Loose knew was gone. She became like a noble with a cunning trick. Rather disappointing.

"Did you hear the message I gave you through Sir Carly?"

"I have heard of it."

"I was expecting you to come and see me."

"Count...... I don't have any acquaintances in the Count's Mansion."

"Ah, I've made the mistake of not thinking clearly. Then, what should I do if I want to meet you?"

"Just come to the market. I'm there almost every day unless something's going on. Usually, I'm there at this time of day."

"I see."

Their arrival at the tavern was brief, and nothing important was discussed. After parting ways with Fateema, Loose returns home. Upon entering the Marquis' Residence, he met Revan who had just left.

"You went to the market again? I hope you got permission to go there."

Revan looked at Loose's empty hands and said,

"You didn't buy anything today."

Loose has a hobby of going to the local market and buying sundries. Even in the desert, if there is a market then he will go.

"Hey."

"Why?"

"Kuhn's woman, that's the Silver Queen, right?"

"How can you say that!"

Revan snapped at him and immediately looked around.

"Shut up and follow me."

The two men went to a corner of the Residence's wall. Revan frowned.

"Watch your mouth. How can you say that in the corridor where people come and go?"

"There's nothing to think about. Everyone already knows that too."

"You don't know why you have to be careful with that?"

"I know that the relationship between the two of them is complicated, but if that's the case, Kuhn wouldn't even start, he would definitely think of every possible scenario."

"Still, don't let those words get out of hand and cause trouble."

Despite Loose giggling at the prospect that Kuhn would become King Consort, Revan was worried that Kuhn would become too attached to the Silver Queen. It was as if Kuhn would hang himself on the Silver Queen, and if anything were to happen, then Kuhn would fall to his knees.

"Don't interfere. Kuhn will marry her, and it's fine even if you don't like her."

"I thought you were the one who said you didn't like her?"

Loose said with a sigh and turned to leave.

The Meeting of the Imperial Diet was extended once, bringing the total to 4 sessions.

The Emperor left the room after making a final closing declaration. As usual, the Silver Queen was the first to leave, followed by Marquis Lard.

On the first day, the members of the Imperial Diet glanced at the Silver Queen and Marquis Lard with confused looks, and it continued on the second and third days.

Then, how about today? In the end on the fourth day, the two of them leave as usual.

The Dukes' expressions were complex and delicate. They weren't sure how to interpret the relationship between the Silver Queen and Marquis Lard.

Dyan, who had felt the 'pleasure' of their time together on the first day, no longer joined them on the second day, and so on. Doug clicked his tongue as he watched the two of them leave through the door.

'Are they really in a relationship? Aren't they just sitting side by side reading a book? They only look close on the surface, but in reality it's just nonsense, nonsense.'

Dyan walked over to the members of the Imperial Diet.

"Gentlemen, if you have no other plans, how about we go to my Palace for a drink?"

"To your Palace, Your Highness?"

"Since you guys invited me before, I should at least do this too."

The other members of the Imperial Diet also replied swiftly.

Dyan also offered that to the Dukes. Smiling broadly, he asked Duke Lehmann to join them.

"I appreciate your offer, but I have a job."

Doug dismissed him with an uncomfortable expression. You bastard, Doug thought to himself.

Everyone except for 3 people —Duke Lehmann, Duke Luke, and Count Bless —Duke Bless's heir, accepted the invitation.

Dyan also led a group of people into the Iron King's Palace. Each of them looked extremely conspicuous because they were all tycoons. Even the attention that was drawn to the Silver Queen and Marquis Lard was stolen by them.

The next two days are Dyan's wedding day. Palace servants were busy preparing for the big day. They don't have time to pay attention to anything else either.

Thus, the fact that the Silver Queen and Marquis Lard were walking hand in hand did not cause a stir among the maids who saw it.

As a result, Sienna and Kuhn enjoyed their date in the office from the afternoon —from the end of the Imperial Diet's Meeting until the evening.

During these 4 days, Sienna was always taking notes. On the second day, she and Kuhn decided to take turns writing notes.

After they finished writing their notes, it was time for dinner. After eating, they returned to the office. It was just the two of them until late at night. The two of them sat close together on the couch and chatted.

"Are sandstorms that bad?"

"What a terrifying natural disaster. You won't know until you experience it. It's not uncommon for us to get trapped for 3 days because of a sandstorm."

The topic of the desert came up, and Kuhn talked about his experience. He has traveled to every corner of the continent, and he has many stories to tell. Sienna listened with interest.

"That must be hard."

"I told you, I've been through a lot."

Sienna stared at the scar above Kuhn's eyebrow. The scar had faded enough that she had to look closely to notice it. Sienna traced the scar with her fingertips.

"Why are you injured?"

"There was an ambush on my way to meet the Chief of the Yaku Tribe, a faction opposed to the inter-tribal alliance. They used cunning methods, they brought desert monsters."

"You mean they used desert monsters as weapons? Is that even possible?"

"That's why they were so cunning. They didn't want to negotiate so they brought the desert monsters. In the middle of the fight, they were the ones who were attacked by the desert monsters. The desert monsters are venomous. They shot at me while I was fighting the desert monsters, and their arrows hit me. "

He spoke as if it were a common experience. Sienna's expression hardened.

"That's very dangerous!"

"In the end, I survived."

As Kuhn recalled the events of that day, all he could think of was Loose having become even more ferocious than the desert monsters. Loose's eyes widened as he realized that Kuhn had been injured. When Loose was in that state, not even Kuhn could stop him.

None of the ambushers survived that day. With so many opponents dead and in agony, negotiations became easy.

"You say I'm fearless, but you are too. Don't do anything dangerous."

"I have a head butler who likes to grumble in my house, and that is very annoying. But, why do I even enjoy listening to your grumbling?"

Sienna smacked his shoulder.

"You sure are good at talking."

"I'm serious."

Kuhn jokingly kissed her on the lips playfully, letting out a pecking sound. Sienna laughed and covered his mouth with her hand. At first, it was a joke, but quickly, the atmosphere turned heated. The tongues of the two were tightly entwined.

That's what happened on their date these past few days. They talked, laughed, joked, and kissed hotly, then started talking again. Both are lost in their own little world.

"I'm thinking of going to Duchy Bless sometime soon."

"Alone?"

"I didn't find much in the other Duke's libraries, and the Bless Family isn't based in the Capital, so I don't expect much, but we never know."

Kuhn sighed, hugging Sienna tightly.

"I won't be seeing you for quite a while, and that's a big deal. Ah, I don't want to go."

Siena smiled. She patted him on the back.

National Wedding Day has arrived. The Iron King's wedding was carried out according to Imperial tradition.

Basically, the Imperial Palace is a temple dedicated to Gods. Perhaps today, this place is the most ornate and secular temple in the world.

Basically, the Empire event is an event of a religious nature and is emotionally restrained. The procedure requires guests to sit and stand many times. There is no tolerance for chatting and laughing. They are expected to listen quietly as the long blessings are recited.

By late afternoon, even those who had been so excited could barely maintain their smiles. A calm atmosphere was created by itself.

The priest presiding over the ceremony finally announced the Imperial couple's entry. Because the wedding ceremony lasted all day, the Emperor was only present during the last part of the procession. The emperor and his wife sat in the front row which had been empty since earlier.

The Emperor's seat was lower than the priest's seat on the ceremonial altar. Since the priest presided over this ceremony as the representative of the God, so the Emperor happily bowed before the God.

"Bride and Groom, please recite your vows before the Gods. Witnesses, please maintain the integrity of these vows."

The Silver Queen and Marquis Lard stepped forward. Silver Queen stood on the far left and Marquis Lard on the far right.

Dyan and Violet knelt at the foot of the altar, facing each other. Two priests kneeling at the sides of them holding Bibles.

The bride and groom place their right hand on the Bible and raise their left hand. Then, the priest at the altar said the vows. After the priest finished saying 1 sentence, the bride and groom said the same sentence.

"I hereby declare that the two of you have become husband and wife. We expect all guests to congratulate the bride and groom."

The bride and groom walked down the aisle between the guests on their left and right. The applause didn't stop until they reached the exit door.

It was a long wedding, starting in the morning and ending in the evening. Usually, the reception is held at the end of the wedding ceremony, but for national weddings, the reception will be held the next day.

It said, it was intended that the bride and groom would be congratulated by people after the wedding ceremony, then they could spend the first night and become a real husband and wife.

However, people thought that was not the true intention.

"It's a good thing the reception is tomorrow."

"That's right. Everyone is exhausted today, would anyone be attending? Surely the Banquet Hall will be empty."

Shortly after the ceremony was over, those who were exhausted went home peacefully.

On the way back to her Palace, in the carriage, Sienna thought about the solemnities of today's wedding. The Iron King and Iron Queen had sworn an oath before the Gods, and their eyes were warm as they stared at each other. They will be a perfect match.

I can't imagine them enjoying each other's company by having lovers and having fun like the current Emperor and Red Queen. That's what bothers me.

Because you are his only remaining flesh and blood.

Why am I the only one? Don't they have children? Is it because of infertility?

However, what the Fair King had said in the dream had no such impression.

What if they actually had children, but then something happened. And what if Mother was behind the horrific thing?

My temples hurt so bad. Sienna gritted her teeth.

'That can't be happening. I will stop it.'
