Chapter 25 Part 2

"I told you, it's impossible. There's no time. If you use magic now, it will all be for nothing."

"What? What the heck are you talking about? I don't understand."

Instead of answering, Alexander chuckled. Perhaps he saw my struggle as jealousy. The more I struggled, the tighter he hugged me until it felt like I was suffocating.

"Now, besides me no one knows you're a wizard. Ah, this bas**rd must be finished."

I looked up and saw Alexander smiling at Claude. Claude trembled, avoiding Alexander's gaze.

The atmosphere was not serious. Alexander acts like an elegant predator with the prey in front of him. I immediately called Alexander.

"......Alex? Alex!"

But it's too late. Alexander gave me a big hug. Many times I rebelled but it didn't work.

Then he put me behind him. His back which was as hard and as wide as a wall obscured my view. I kicked him in the shins and tried to get close to Claude.

"You can't! Sis, you can't get involved!"

Alexander didn't give me a chance to argue. The leg that I kicked with all my might was as hard as a rock, instead, it made my leg hurt.

He drew the sword from Claude's shoulder. What Alexander will do next is predictable.

"Stop. Stop!"

I raised my voice and hugged Alexander's waist. I tried to stop it. But it's too late.

Slash!

I bit my lip and glared at Alexander. This is a matter between me and Claude. But why did he interfere? What does Alexander have to do with all this? I'm getting frustrated.

"Sis, listen to me. After all of this is over, you will understand."

Alexander muttered under his breath. He shook his head slowly. There was a lot of red blood splattered on his white face looking at me.

The desire that shone in his silver-gray eyes was very different from usual. The corners of her beautiful lips lifted.

Alexander smiled.

"Now, you...... Find this funny?"

I shook my head in disbelief. Alexander tilted his head as if he didn't understand. I could see the bloodstains on the back of his neck trickling down as he tilted his head.

Lifting his gaze again, I made eye contact with him. His eyes were wide and curved as if drawn with a brush.

"Not funny, I like this because I feel happy."

Alexander's eyes lit up when he said that. Those are the perfect eyes to look like a madman. He grinned and looked like he wasn't focused.

"......You."

I leaned back and pointed at Alexander. He glanced at my fingers. His red tongue moistened his thick lower lip.

"Those are the fingers I want to put in my mouth, then su*k it."

"You're talking about something like that now!?"

I shouted while wiping my hands behind my back. Just for a moment, I felt happy that it wasn't Alexander who was trying to kill me.

Now that I look around, Alexander doesn't look normal either.

How could he kill Claude? Does he want to su*k my finger? Can you say things like that in a situation like this? Can!?

What's this!? What the heck is this!?

How can you kill Claude so easily? After talking to him again, I tried to deal with it.

"I'm jealous. From the first time I saw him, I didn't like this bas**rd. Besides, he knows your past, which I don't know. I can't just stay silent."

......He?

I was at a loss for words when I heard Alexander's excuse. Then, he slowly approached me and licked his lips.

"Sis, you didn't tell me anything. Well, it doesn't matter now. Now that bas**rd is dead."

Alexander smirked and threw his sword away with a creak. It was as if he had been waiting for this moment.

I frowned and looked at him curiously. Alexander wipes his hands and looks behind me.

When I turned around, following his gaze. The running horses were in my eyes and the sounds of the horses penetrated my ears.

Several men in red fur berets and flowing robes approached.

"Who is that?"

I saw people in the same uniform and asked. Alexander answered, putting his arm around my shoulder.

"They are the real thing."

Again, don't say things that I don't understand. I snorted and pinched the back of Alexander's hand. But he rubbed his face on my head like an idiot.

Then, a man who looked like their leader dismounted from his horse. He took off his beret and bowed his head.

"Greetings Duke Arpad! Forgive me for being late. I am a First Class Investigator, Claude."

Hah?

I raised one eyebrow. The man who introduced himself as Claude frowned and looked around. Then, he groaned in embarrassment.

"I can only guess at the situation. Is it alright if I explain it step by step?"

Then, the people who were behind the man, greeted Alexander one by one. Alexander raises his hand to stop them.

"That's enough. I'm waiting for an explanation."

Alexander shook his head and the men backed off. I looked at Claude, who was beheaded. Of course, I realized too late that he wasn't an investigator, but……

"He imitated me, Miss."

A man approached me and showed me a wanted sheet. Claude's real name and face were drawn on the glossy paper.

I scanned the sheet with my fingertips. I could tell right away that this sheet was made of the same material as the paper Henrietta was holding.

"Did you know that my personal maid died because of this?"

I asked sharply. This man, the real Claude, lowered the corners of his hardened lips and replied,

"I thought there would be an increase in the number of innocent victims.... ...I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."

Well, even if Henrietta was innocent. Since she's already dead, I decided not to say anything more to the real Claude.

"His real name is Cain, from a working-class orphanage. He was notorious in the South for being a pickpocket when he was a teenager. He's been in and out of jail more than 10 times."

Come to think of it, when I was a kid, I once asked the boy where he got those plums. Then the boy, no. I mean, Cain replied, 'What would you do if you lived alone?'

The Cain depicted on the fugitive leaflet, still looks so young. With his bright smile, it's hard to imagine that he has a brilliant criminal record. After all, you can't tell a person's true character just by their face.

"The intensity of his crimes increased from time to time. But he only stole small things, so he didn't get much attention. But not long ago, there was an incident where he set fire to the orphanage where he was born and strangled the director of the orphanage. This was a terrible tragedy with a total of 23 victims. The victims could not get out of the building and in the end, they died."

According to Claude, Cain is crazy. As someone who has spoken to him, I quite understand. Suddenly he was laughing, crying, angry, choking, and screaming.

"As I said before, Cain had a lot of mental problems. So instead of being sentenced to death, he was sent to the worst dungeon in the North. My colleagues and I are currently escorting Cain."

However, Cain manages to escape after stabbing 2 investigators on his way to the North. Although he was a vicious criminal, these investigators had never come across a mentally ill person, so they found the task easy.

Claude detailed the circumstances before Cain's escape. At night, when they were looking for lodging due to unavoidable circumstances, there was only Claude and a few investigators watching over Cain.

Cain suddenly started vomiting profusely, and the confused investigators were patting him on the back and looking for some medicine. Then, Cain kicked Claude's vital points and drew the sword from his waist.

Then, Cain easily broke the ropes that bound him and stabbed Claude in the stomach, and threatened the other investigators. Claude also said that the investigator who was stabbed in the area near the heart is still being treated at the hospital in a nearby village. Claude swung his uniform jacket to show that the wound had not healed and was bandaged.

"He is a very sneaky man. Cain stole my ID card, my anti-magic necklace, and my wallet while I was unconscious."

"Then what did the other investigators do?"

I looked at Claude with a pitiful look, he lost the expensive necklace without a move. It was hard to believe that there were so many tall men with good physiques, but all of them couldn't stop the slender Cain.

"T-That...... Over there, there's a 'professional lady'."

Instead of Claude saying that the investigator behind him answered the question hesitantly. They coughed and avoided my gaze. Really dirty and disgusting.

"......Acting like trash."

Alexander, who had been silently listening to Claude's explanation, suddenly opened his mouth. He didn't hide his disdainful expression and looked at the faces of the investigators one by one.
